History

In 1959 Mrs Slater, widow of the late Major Philip H Slater, who for many years as a member of the Bramshott and North Hants Golf Clubs had been a keen supporter of golf in Hampshire, presented to the Union a silver cup in his memory. In 1969, when this event of the second day of the Championship was converted from a singles to a foursomes Stableford competition, Mr Pat Hunt MC, then President, donated to the Union a silver salver to be held jointly by the winners for one year.
