Hampshire Seniors in action 

Hampshire Senior's annual match against Jersey Seniors took place on Thursday 13th April, at Stoneham Golf Club. 

This annual fixture swaps the mainland and Jersey venues each year. This year the event was curtailed to a single day due to the inaugural Hayling Scratch Seniors event. 

So it was 'all to play for' in a single days play. Stoneham was in fine condition, though the greens were just coming out of a winter maintenance programme, so were not quite as fast or true as normal. 

Nevertheless the conditions set up a fine match in which both sides had new players to this fixture playing and the experience was enjoyed by all. 

After a series of ups and downs Hampshire Seniors ran out winners by a single point - 3.5 to 2.5. 

Game of the day was between Jersey stalwarts Tony Haire and Mike Street against Alan Carpenter and David McMillan. Tony found the greens to his liking and had 7 birdies on the day - enabling him and his partner to run out winners by 1 hole - so great play by all. 

An excellent dinner followed and at the conclusion Michael Lefeuvre presented Alan Drayton, the Hampshire Seniors Manager, with the John Nettell Trophy. 

The 2018 match will be in Jersey and hosted at Royal Jersey and La Moye.
