Billy Watson wins Open title

Billy Watson (North Hants) yesterday joined a select band of amateur golfers to have won the Hampshire Open title.

Brian Winteridge won the title in 1976 and 1981, Richard Bland completed a hat-trick of wins between 1993 and 1995, Matt Blackey won in 1997 and most recently Neil Raymond won in 2009.

Billy shot rounds of 71 and 66 to win the title by five shots from Stoneham's Adam Hickling (see photo below). Seven Hampshire Pros shared third place (see photo below).

Ryan Harmer (Brokenhurst Manor) was second placed amateur, with Lawrence Cherry (Stoneham) third and Charlie Manning (North Hants) fourth.

Tom Vaughan (Bishopswood) and Jon Buller (Sherfield Oaks) also won amateur prizes.
