Despite the Channel Islands being part of our County, the annual fixture between the Channel Islands and Hampshire Men’s team always carries a healthy sense of rivalry — friendly, yet fiercely competitive.
This year’s match was played in Guernsey, where both teams enjoyed excellent hospitality and challenging conditions. Hampshire fielded a younger team than usual, giving several emerging players valuable experience at this level. Despite their enthusiasm and determination, the hosts made the most of their home advantage, producing some fine golf to secure a well-deserved 8.5 – 3.5 victory over the visiting mainland side.
Many of the matches were closely contested, with Hampshire showing plenty of promise for the future. The fixture was played in great spirit, highlighting the camaraderie and mutual respect between the two sides.
Although the scoreline went in favour of the Channel Islands, the experience gained by Hampshire’s younger players will prove invaluable as they continue their development and look ahead to future county matches.
